Talascend is currently seeking a HVAC Maintenance Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Menands, New York.

Overview

This role involves performing maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of commercial HVAC systems, electrical, and plumbing components across multiple sites. The technician will be responsible for ensuring systems are operational, safe, and efficient, supporting emergency response, and maintaining compliance with all safety standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform ongoing preventive and repair work orders on facility mechanical, electrical, and other installed systems and components.
  • Maintain, operate, and repair all HVAC systems and associated equipment, electrical distribution, plumbing, and building repair tasks.
  • Conduct facility inspections and report on conditions impacting client occupancy and operations.
  • Respond effectively to all emergencies.
  • Prepare and submit summary reports of conditions found and recommended actions.
  • Study and familiarize with equipment and methods, including building automation and fire/life safety systems.
  • Comply with safety procedures, maintain housekeeping, and recognize hazards to propose elimination methods.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable ordinances, codes, and laws.
  • Support after-hours building activities as required.
  • Attend periodic training seminars and perform other operational tasks as assigned.
  • Utilize tools provided to perform work efficiently and safely.

Qualifications

  • Universal EPA 608 Certification
  • Minimum of four (4) years of technical experience in building engineering, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical maintenance.
  • Valid state drivers license
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs. and climb up to 30 ft. ladders
  • Willingness to perform on call duties and overtime as required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of overall MEP/HVAC system design and application
  • Experience managing work orders using CMMS technology
  • Experience in a service-related role within commercial facilities
